Born in Atlanta and a full-time resident for nearly 30 years, Barrett knows the area well! He has been in real estate management and sales in one form or another for nearly 20 years.
He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Georgia State University and a Paralegal Certificate in Business/Real Estate Transactions from the National Center of Paralegal Training. Upon graduation, he served as a Paralegal with the Commercial Finance Team at Parker, Hudson, Rainer and Dobbs, a mid-size law firm in Atlanta, Georgia, where he managed multiple multi-million-dollar commercial loan transactions, many using real estate as collateral.
Barrett chose to further his education by obtaining a Masters in Business Administration from Mercer University. He immediately joined a local timberland investment management organization and registered investment advisor of timberland, timberland-related and environmental investments for public and private pension plans, corporations, foundations, endowments and high-net- worth individuals. Their portfolio totaled over one million acres with a fluid fair market value exceeding well over one billion dollars. He spent nearly 15 years as an experienced Strategic Asset Manager of cross-functional investment real estate, specializing in multiple aspects of core and non-core timberland properties, including the complete location, negotiation, contracting and closing of outparcels, carveouts and easements of all types.
Most recently, he received his Georgia Real Estate license and will soon receive his FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot’s License combining his experience of land management and aerial imagery with sales to better serve his client’s needs.
He is an active member of his church, his business fraternity Delta Sigma Pi and his community. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Smyrna Public Safety Foundation, the Smyrna Parks and Recreation Commission and HERO Agriculture, a local non-profit that helps military veterans gain a renewed purpose through farming.
Barrett resides in Smyrna, Georgia with his wife, Kimberly, their two children, J.B. and Annelise, and their rescued puppy, Heinz. He enjoys smoking meats, woodworking, playing golf and spending time with family and friends at the lake.
